Foam Arch

The foam arch is used for cleaning the exterior of the train. Traditionally people apply the cleaning product to the outside surface of the train using brushes or spray. The train enters the trainwash for the product to be rinsed off.
Chela Ltd has recently developed Eurowash Plus. This has been specially designed
for use in the foam arch.
Using the foam arch, the train is driven through the foam arch while the train
exterior is evenly sprayed with the cleaning product as a foam. Then the train
continues to be driven through the train wash for the product to be rinsed off.
There are many advantages of this innovative cleaning approach:
1) Labour time and costs are reduced as it takes only two minutes for the train
to be driven through the foam arch.
2) This approach is time saving for the entire fleet as the trains are returned
to service quicker.
3) The specifically designed product is evenly sprayed as foam onto the train
exterior which provides a longer dwell time for the product to work.
4) This approach provides control of application to specific areas thereby decreasing
product usage and improving the quality of the clean.
5) The improved quality of the clean increases ambience scores of the rolling
stock.
6) The increased quality of the clean will help to improve the passengers' perception
of the service they are receiving, as the train will be noticeably cleaner.
